What's Happening Now November 2009
Nov. 5 Jan's msg to Morris:

I was surprised and delighted to
receive the wrapper for the
Pumpkin Fried Pie (as evidence
that there really is such a thing!).
I'll bet it was good. Still haven't
seen any of these around here;
don't think we have Whataburgers,
but I don't eat many hamburgers.
Can't right now because of the
temporary molars pending my new
crowns (Nov. 19 I get all 16 upper
and lower back molars' crowns
installed.)

All is well. It's a bright day in the
low fifties so far, nice fall weather.

Keep in touch!
Love, Jan Bee
Nov. 5 from Morris:

Hi, JanBee: Glad the pie wrapper
survived the long trip. As I said, I'll
put one in the freezer before they
quit making them for the year, and
bring it to you at the reunion.  To
my knowledge, the closest
Whataburger to you is in Jackson,
MS. Used to be that Shreveport,
LA, was the farthest east they had
a store. Other than the big national
chains, what burger franchises are
in your area? Krystal and White
Castle are in the mid-west and
southeast, but I have no
knowledge of VA-MD-WV chains.
Jane's almost 13 months with
good reports is still a miracle, and I
am planning on at least 7 more
years for her (to her 75, at least!).

Nov. 9 from Morris:

Hi, JanBee: 2d Sunday of the
month again today, so our
deacons/yokefellows meeting took
place as scheduled. The printer
still has not filled our forms order,
so I will ask you to once again post
our BHS Prayer List for me: Jane
(thanks for her miracle and asking
for at least 7 more years), Richard,
Harrell, Sue, LindaMW, LindaDB,
JudyPS and you (your dental work).
If I forgot anyone, I'm sorry! Off to
Tyler and Tulsa 11.20-21 for 2
Gaither concerts, and on 11.23 @
Broken Arrow, OK, to see my
gospel singer friend (my "adopted
daughter") Charlotte Ritchie at a
solo concert. It will be good to get
away for 3 days. Have a very nice
lady who will stay with Mother
those 3 days. Geezer
Nov. 7 from Judy PS, who is
traveling in Germany and the
Czech Republic with brother
Howard: Cold and drizzling here
in Bonn......NICE TRIP.

Nov. 12 from Judy PS: Tonight is
our second night here in Prague, a
city of many people, 1.2 million and
just as many visitors!  We have
been eating the local food and
drinking the local beer!  Today was
sunny for a change, but the rain
started again by 6:30, plus it is very
cold here. I visited the Prague
Castle today, absolutely
spectacular.  I will have pictures to
share when I get home.  Went to
Dachau in Germany several days
ago.... depressing!  .....wish you ALL
were here!  Judy
Nov. 13 from Judy PS:
Howard has been busy with his
conferences so I have done
Prague alone and what fun this has
been.  I have never walked so
much in my life.  I took a City Tour
by bus yesterday, and today I took
a boat ride by the city then put
those walking shoes on.
I walked
across the Charles Bridge up to
the famous Prague Castle.
Now
that was a walk, plus the walk back
to the hotel. We have had such a
great time. Will head to Frankfurt
on Sunday and then home on
Monday. Yesterday and today was
good weather. Cold, but no rain.
Very bearable. I am already
planning in my head for my next
trip here....maybe one of you would
like to come!  Love, Judy
Nov. 14 from Judy PS:
Greetings from Prague....our last
night here! This place is
unbelievably beautiful at night. The
castles and old churches are all lit
up and they give off an eerie glow
almost halloween-like. This has
been the most interesting city I
have ever been to. The people,
smells, sights, just everything. This
is a place I would come back to. We
have had wonderful food, beer and
wine - an absolutely wonderful
place to visit.

We will leave for Wiesbaden,
Germany, tomorrow morning and
then fly out of Frankfurt Monday
morning. No rain today, just
overcast again! I hope the weather
stays good till we get home
although it looks like some storms
are off the coast of France.   Back
to the real world soon!  Judy

Sniper John Allen Muhammad executed in Virginia

John Allen Muhammad, the sniper who kept the Washington region
paralyzed by fear for three weeks in 2002 as he and a young
accomplice gunned down people at random, has been executed by
lethal injection.

If anyone at all deserved the death penalty, he did.

13 Killed by Troubled Islamic Psychiatrist at Fort Hood;
Dr. Roy Smythe on National News

Nov. 9: Gibby B passed on this note from a Belton friend:

"Perhaps you would like to remind everyone that the DR. ROY SMYTHE of Scott and
White on the national news, is our own.  Belton, TX, son of Royce and Peggy.  We are
so proud.

"All of the world knows Ft. Hood, but not the home folks."

Bad News:
Unemployment rate
jumps to 10.2%.
Nov. 18 from Jan: I talked with Cecelia
today and learned that she's only 67. (She
started school in Mississippi when she was
5.) She had a quiet birthday with her
husband Ewell, whose health is back to
normal. She was about to leave to sing in a
choir at a nursing home. Good on ya,
Cecelia!
Nov. 19 from Judy PS: I arrived home
Monday night - tired from the 10-hour plane
ride and being up for 19 hours!  What a great
trip we had, but it is nice to be home.  I am still
trying to get stuff put up and get back into
some sort of normal routine....pictures soon.
My family comes here for Thanksgiving so I
need to get ready for that now.   Happy
Thanksgiving to each of you. Judy
