My weekend may have
been the best ever.
Great weekend with all
family here.

My brother Koyce (a.k.a. "Red") and his wife
Margaret visited from Temple. We spent a
couple of days at our vacation home at Greene
Mountain Lake, near Charlottesville, VA,
driving up Skyline Drive to Big Meadows
Lodge for dinner. Koyce's main desire had
been to go fishing in our lake. He caught a
fish. Alas, they weren't biting!

Got my driver's license renewed today. (First
went and had my hair done so I wouldn't have
to live with "ugly hair" till 2012.) My photo
looks like
an old lady!!! How can that be?
Tomorrow I go for renewal of my military
dependent's I.D., required for Tricare because
I'm turning 65 and will be covered by
Medicare. Speaking of which, I also got a
letter saying that
$93 a month will be taken
out of my Social Security check as a Medicare
premium. And I had thought Medicare was a
free benefit of getting old. Ha!
Rob and Paul are building their dream home on Siri Ridge
about 60 miles north of San Francisco. After much
bureaucratic wrangling, they've finally gotten all the
permits they need and construction has really begun.

6/27/07 - See the new page of photos, Google map link,
and the story on how the California Dream Home came
about.
6/12/07 - Jane writes via snail-mail:
Thanks for your call and note. I did respond to
you by e-mail, but I'm assuming you didn't
receive it since I didn't hear back from you.
I just wanted to let you know that I will
eventually get some information to you for
the BHS website. I have viewed it and I think
you're doing a great job on it. Thanks!
Richard and I are leaving next week for a road
trip to California. We are going with my sister,
Mary, and her husband. It is mostly a vacation,
but we are also going to check on an elderly
aunt. We will be gone a couple of weeks.
Take care and keep in touch.

We went to a fun occasion Friday nite in Lampasas...a
bank function.  It was the first one I'd been to since
Will
joined FSB last June.  The function was outside, and it
was the most gorgeous Hill Country evening ever.  The
music was provided by Benny and Carolyn Boyd,
Gladys's
older brother.  In visiting with them, I was reminded of
her husband's name, so I looked them up in the phone
book, called this afternoon, and Gladys answered the
phone!  We had a good visit.  I asked if it would be alright
to pass along to you, and she said she'd love to hear
from you.  Unfortunately, she doesn't have internet
access, but said all of her kids do.  I told her to get one
of her many grandkids to pull it up for her.  Ha.
Here's her number:  254.778.2621

I called
Gladys and had a wonderful talk. She has finally
retired from her nursing career, which I hope she'll write
about. Her husband Wayne also has retired from being
Principal at Temple High. She'd enjoy calls from
everyone!
6/28/07 -
Gladys's new page is up!
6/24/07 - Rob writes that he's been in touch
with
Skip, who will send us something soon.
6/22/07 - Linda W. sent another great photo
which will make a good "Who's This?" Thanks,
Linda!

All is well here at the front. I've just been doing. Traveled
to Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM for a week with Andrea
to visit friends. Spent a couple of weeks in Biloxi, MS
taking care of family and business issues.

I am considering another career change - a long time
associate has asked me to join him in a couple of casino
development projects. It would mean selling or accepting
a partner for the business in Austin and moving to the
Mississippi Gulf Coast. It seems like it would be
challenging and fun. The timing would be this fall if I
decide to plunge. What's waitin' up the road and 'round
the bend?

I'll try to send an updated photo or two soon. I'll schedule
a "shoot" for the next time I clean up.         Regards, Gary
6/26/07 - Bill Su checked in and sent some
great class photos.

Fri., 29th from Judy PS:

Had the kids this week due to the floods in Marble
Falls...what a disaster. There is still no water there.
My youngest son James and his family live there.
Two 20  year old boys are still missing. They found
their jeep and some of their clothing, so it does not
look good.  It looks like Katrina hit!  I am 20 miles
from there and that is where I do all my shopping
etc.

I am going to
Yorba Linda, California on July
14 and come back on the 21st.  Yorba Linda is an LA
suburb - Nixon Library is there.  My first cousin
lives there and she has been begging me to come
out for several years now.  John and I visited Karen
and Jim lots when we lived in Phoenix.  Karen's
sister Lana lives up at Bear Mountain and she
called yesterday and was wondering when I was
coming to see her!  I will try and make the rounds
this next year....I love traveling - more fun with
someone, but I have been to Korea, Japan and
Hawaii by myself, so I am not afraid to do this.  I
made 3 trips in the US last year.

Then in August I will fly into
Hartford,
Connecticut,
to meet some friends, and we will
go to their house in
Lenox, Massachusetts,
for a week.  Sometimes I am busy, other times not.
From the looks of this office I need to be in here
more!

I love
Gladys' page!  So nice everyone is slowly
sending something in.  You are doing a very nice
job......thank you.  Judy

6/29/07, Janean writes: Oh my
goodness!  I was absolutely teared up
when I finished reading
Gladys' bio!  I
didn't remember that she married
Wayne her jr year...and that they have
been together 49 of our 65 years!
That in itself is extraordinary!!  But to
read about all they accomplished...
educationally, family, careers, etc.
Really a credit to them both and they
wonderful family they now have!!!

It is very moving to me at this elderly
stage to see the progeny we've all
created!!  And to see Gladys' siblings!!
Surely wish she had internet so we
could correspond with her more....

I talked with Lou yesterday and you
may all already know this, but Charles
had double knee replacement a week
or so ago....she has been very busy
going back and forth to hospital/
rehab, but he is coming home Fri.
