Lila's Page
2006: Lila and Duane
May 29, 2008, Jan's note: I tracked Lila down via the White Pages online and had a great talk
with her. It was like we'd seen each other yesterday. She's relatively new to the computer, as
their business has had paper records until recently, but she had no trouble getting up our
site and completing the questionnaire.

Lila Marie was born one September 4 in Dumas, Texas. She came to us in freshman year
from Germany, as her father was stationed there in the army. Like Judy PS, Dewey, and
other "army brats," she attended elementary school in many places.

Some of her special friends in high school were Carolyn B., Marie, and Judy PS.

After graduation, she got a job as a bookkeeper and married two men named James,
serially, before she met the love of her life, Duane.

Lila says, "I've worked as a bowling instructor, worked in the loan department and new
accounts at Valley Bank, now I am a bookkeeper for my husband's auto repair shop. I
have great hours, from 9:30 until around 2 p.m."

She had a son and a daughter. She says, "My son was killed in a sky diving accident at
the age of 25 in 1989, and my daughter, now 40, lives in New Jersey with her husband and
three children: Bradley, 11; Jacob, 8; and Rylie Marie, 6. My daughter Carrie is a dental
hygienist, but is a stay-at-home mom as her husband Bill is an engineer for a toothpaste
company.

"My son's little boy was only five when my son was killed. His mom had left when he was
two, so I got custody of him. He is now 24 years old and a corporal in the U.S. Marine
Corps, now stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. He has been to Japan, Korea,
Australia, and Iraq, but thank God he made it home safely. June 27th of this year he is
getting married here in El Paso and his girlfriend is a sweetheart!

"I am a bowler and bowl in three leagues. I carry a 172 book average. We also go to all
state and national tournaments. The highest game I have ever bowled was a 276 this
year, and my highest series is a 657. When I am not bowling, I play canasta with three
girlfriends. Duane and I both love country western dancing and go a couple times a
month.

"Traveling: I go to my daughter's in New Jersey three times a year, as I go for each of my
grandkids' birthdays: February, June, and November. My son-in-law always sends me a
free ticket. In my lifetime I have been lots of places, as my dad and first husband were
both military. I have been to Germany, Holland, France, Switzerland. I have been to New
York, Florida, California, Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee, Arizona, Michigan, and
Milwaukee.

"I like reading romances and mysteries. I really enjoy going to the movies. As for T.V., I've
been watching
The Young and the Restless  since it started and also The Bold and the
Beautiful.
I love American Idol, So you Think You Can Dance, Let's Make A Deal, and The
Price Is Right,
but I tape them all so I can fast-forward through all the commercials."

Lila's pants size is actually  a little smaller than in high school, bless her heart!
(Wish we
could all say the same! Exercise, exercise, exercise!)

She says, "I am so looking forward to our 50th class reunion and hope everyone who can
will try their hardest to attend. If I can come all the way from El Paso, come on everyone!
Let's make this the best reunion ever! I tried many times to get in touch with Carolyn B,
but finally quit trying several years back. I remember I used to go to lunch with Harrell R.
Is he still around? I was so sorry to hear that Marie lost her husband Nick. I can't wait to
catch up with everyone! I will be sending you a picture of the current me soon; will try to
get a good one taken at my grandson's wedding this next month."
