Hi, Jan,
Here's a photo of my family as it existed
Christmas, 2005. Since then, our oldest daughter
Amy (the tall one) and her husband Jeremy added
our first grandchild, Gideon James, to the family
in December, 2006. They live in Fort Worth, where
Jeremy works for Lockheed Martin. They spent
4-1/2 years in South Korea, where Lockheed was
assisting the South Korean Air Force develop
their own jet trainer, the T-50. That's where we
were enroute to when I happened to see Jeanne
at the Austin airport for the first time in 40 years
and actually recognized her. That was quite a trip
for a couple of old country folk like Sidney and I.
We had a good time and were glad we went, but
when we got home 12 days later we were sure
glad we didn't have to do it again any time soon.
Our youngest daughter Rachel and her husband
Luke live in Kalispell, Montana. They met at
UMHB in Belton. Luke grew up in Montana and
never made a secret of the fact that he wanted to
get back there eventually. They're expecting
their first child in September. (See below) We
visited them there last fall, going again next
month, and I'm sure again after the baby is born
in the fall.
After finishing A&M in 1964, I spent 15 years in
ranch and cattle feedyard management---5 years
in the Texas Panhandle, 6 years in Colorado, 2
years in Northeast Texas, and 2 years at Pecos.
Sidney is from Lubbock, but we met in Colorado
where her family owned and operated a fishing
resort on the Conejos River. We were married in
July, 1968, at Alamosa, CO. She taught the first
year we were married, but then "retired" and said
she'd take in laundry before anybody would get
her back in the classroom again. She meant it,
too. She retired for good in 1997 after 15 years as
a medical secretary at Scott & White.
In 1979 we moved from Pecos back to the family
farm I grew up on at Moffat in time for Amy to
start school at Belton that fall. The girls
graduated from Belton High in 1992 and 1995.
Amy went to A&M and Rachel went to UMHB. They
both were married in 2000 within 2 months time.
After "starving out" farming and raising cattle for 3
years in 1982, I went to work for Waco Production
Credit Assn. for 10 years as an ag loan officer initially,
and as manager of the Gatesville field office the last
6 years. I continued farming and ranching while I had
that job. When I left there in 1992, I began represent-
ing Germania Farm Mutual Insurance as an agent,
continued farming and ranching, and also worked the
night shift at the Texas Instruments plant in Temple
for 5 years. When TI closed the Temple plant in 1997, I
quit farming and started devoting full time to my
insurance agency. It's been good to me and I'm
looking forward to retiring at the end of this year and
turning the agency over to a younger man who has
been working with me for 4 years.
About the 15th class reunion, I think it was, Will
designated me as winner of the "maturity award,"
saying that while there might be some who were
grayer, some who were balder, and some who were
more wrinkled, I combined all of those factors to the
highest degree. As you can see from the photo, I'll
probably win that award hands-down at the 50th, too.
Looking forward to that and will be working to get as
many there as I can who haven't been attending many
of the previous reunions. I'd be glad to hear from
anyone.
More later (maybe),
David B.

Thought I'd send this recent picture of the Beerwinkle clan along as many
classmates may remember some or all of my siblings. We're all rather scattered and
it is not often that we are all at the same place at the same time. This occasion was
the closing on the sale of the last 140 acres of the family farm on June 11, 2007. So,
all that's left of the farm is the 5 acres I live on and my parents' home and 1 acre that
I bought from the family in 2004 which now serves as my office.
Those in the photo and their graduating class are:
Dale '71, Larry '67, Linda '63, David '60, Donald '58, and Kenneth '56.

Oct. 9, '07: We had our 2nd grandson, ZANE ASHER
FITZWATER, born in Kalispell, Montana, on
September 10, 2007. Naturally, Grandma Sidney and
I had to make the trip to welcome him to the family.
We flew out of DFW on the 27th. That was a
refreshing break from the 90-degree weather we're
still having here with highs in the 60s and lows in
the 30s & 40s up there. I came back home on the
2nd. Sidney stayed a few days longer but she is
back home now.

April 30, 2010 from David B:
Sidney and I are in Kalispell, Montana, where our
daughter Rachel had identical twin boys last month.
Sidney was here helping out for 2 weeks when the
babies were born on March 23, but came home for
a couple of weeks and some doctors' appointments
before returning on April 6th. They weighed 4 lb 1
oz and 4 lb 11 oz at birth and are both up to well
over 5 1/2 lbs now. I came up on April 26th and the
babies were released from the hospital on April
29th. We plan to head back to Texas on May 10th.
I'm attaching some photos of the new additions and
the proud grandparents as well as one of Rachel
with proud and protective big brother, 2-1/2 year-
old Zane.

Our other daughter Amy and her family have recently moved to
Lexington Park, Maryland, so it looks like Sidney and I will have
a chance to see some of the eastern U.S. that we would have
otherwise never had a reason to travel to.
Looking forward to the reunion and hope we will be able to get
as many there as possible.
