I was born in Salado on November 5, and went to first grade at Tarver Elementary.

I felt like I was friends with everyone in high school, but my neighborhood friends were
Glenn Gribble, Ted Spear, and Charles Campbell. They were all ahead of us in school. In
our class there was a group called The Fantastic Four, which included myself, Gary
Pedigo, Teddy Froderman, and Johnny Wesson. There has been no contact with any of
them except Teddy, which was back in the 70's. I had a special friend in Dewey.

After high school I got married and got a job at Griggs Equipment. I worked there for 3
years and then went into the flooring trade.

I have 2 sons. David Keith was born in 1963. Roy Glenn was born in 1964. David K. has 2
children: 1 boy, Michael, and 1 girl, Brittney. Roy has 2 children: 1 boy, Justin, and 1 girl,
Megan. Both of my boys are in the flooring business.

I divorced my wife in 1980. I stayed single for 24 years, and then a special person came
back into my life. When we were in the 7th grade, I carried her books home from school.
She was my first sweetheart, but then her foster parents moved her away.

In 2003 on Christmas Day, I got a phone call from Bennie Smith saying someone wanted to
talk to me. To my surprise, it was Dorothy Mensch, whom I hadn't seen in 48 years---what a
Christmas present. We were married in August 2004 and we are still on our honeymoon 4
years later.

Dorothy has 5 children: 4 girls and 1 boy. She has 7 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids.

Dorothy and I like to play golf, and we sing together and are wanting to start entertaining
at rest homes. We are both retired and we spend all our time together, since we have
missed a lot of years together when we were separated as children.

Dorothy wrote this poem for me.
At the age of 13 I met this boy
Who later brought me a lot of joy.
He was 14, handsome, tall, and lean,
And he always protected me from anything
mean.

I loved this boy so young and smart,
Then the day came when we had to part.
Our love for each other was so young and
strong,
We had no idea we would be together
before long.

God has His ways of showing His love:
48 years later we wed and light shone from
up above.
Thank You, God, for all You have done,
for without You I would have had none.

Here are David and Dorothy H.
ready to go out to a senior prom.
Isn't it great to see David in "a white sport coat and a pink
carnation, all dressed up for the dance"?

Yes! The background music is David singing "Welcome to My
World" from his and Dorothy's CD of old favorites. Singing
together has become a fun retirement hobby for them.
