Barbara's Page
September 21, 2008, I finally reached Barbara and it was just great
to hear her voice. Here's her preliminary bio:

Barbara was born on November 20 in Temple, and attended Tyler
Elementary. After high school, she married and had four children,
three girls and one boy. Two now live in Dallas and two live in
Temple, and among them, they've given her nine grandchildren.

She married Michael almost 15 years ago. They've recently moved
into a new house they've built, not too far from the home she'd
lived in for 30 years. Neither has yet retired; Mike works for Sprint
and Barbara works in an insurance office.

Her main interests over the years have been her children and
grandchildren. For a while she enjoyed doing crafts, especially
woodworking. Now she likes to work in her yard. She keeps up with
the news and reads mysteries.

Sept. 29: Here's Barb's bio in her own words:

For my bio, I guess you could start with getting married ('way too
young!), having two children, a girl Sally and a boy Todd; 7 years
later came the divorce and then a second marriage; two girls,
Beverly and Hallie and 24 years later another divorce....Couldn't
seem to get it right where the spouse was concerned!!!!  Single was
OK; I had a job I enjoyed and the kids who had kids, so I was a happy
camper. A girl friend decided we should take a cruise and found an
ad in the paper and convinced me I should call and get the info. I
did...talked to a really neat (sounding) guy who gave me the
highlights and told me if I had any questions to call him. I didn't
have any question but my friend did so I made the call.....8 hours
later.....after the kids came to check on me since my phone had
been busy FOREVER....Michael and I had "met" ! And he was a nice
guy....We talked on and off several months and I made a trip to visit
him...in Atlanta! I made three trips during the next several months
and we started talking about him moving to Texas. He finally
decided to make the big move and became a Texan in December
1991. Of course the kids thought I'd lost my mind...Who was this guy
and what did he want with their mother!!!  At the time Hallie and
Jocelyn, her 4 month old daughter were living with me. Michael
moved in and became Jocelyn's primary caregiver! This is a man
who's never been married; has never lived with anyone and who
has never been around kids, let alone babies that much!!!  Today
Jocelyn thinks of him as her dad.....He's just a great guy. All the kids
have told me if we ever divorce, they're keeping him!!!!!!!  We have
fun and laugh a lot...I call him my "old soul" even though he's 11
years younger the me! Life should be so good!!! Sally and Pete and
two kids  live in Dallas; Todd and his wife live in Houston; Bev and
George and two boys live right behind us in Belton; Hallie and Tony
and two girls live in Temple. We are all very close and the kids
come and go from here constantly....we just hate it, don't ya know!!!!!
I look forward to seeing everyone at the Grill Oct 4th.....It's not fancy
but the food is great and the view is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
