Ann L's Best Friends' Page
Note from Jan:

One of Ann's six best
friends, Maxine, tends to
be sarcastic and
misanthropic. She's
definitely not a kindly old
grannie.

Ann's god-dog, Kohl, is a
Doberman. The boy who
lived across the street
from me when we were
in 5th grade at Tyler Elem.
(Donald Clements; do
you remember him?) had
a Doberman named
Hans. He would have
eaten you alive and spat
out the gristle if you'd
muddled  into his yard by
mistake.

Let's hope that none of
these good friends'
personalities have
rubbed off on Ann!

I remember her as a cute
young thing who was not
only on the 1960 BHS
tennis team, but was also
selected Sweetheart of
our famed Marching
Hundred Band. Nothing
at all like Maxine.

And the year I attended
the class reunion, took
jillions of fabulous
photos, and discovered
I'd forgotten to put film in
my camera, Ann came to
the rescue and sent me
the ones she'd taken.

I'm really looking forward
to seeing her again at
our 50th reunion. They
say you begin to look like
those you hang out with.
I do hope she finds some
new friends!!!

What It Was Like to Work for the
Dallas Cowboys

Okay...started out as public relations
secretary at the Cowboys (trained 3 public
relations directors during my watch)...
wound up as assistant tickets manager
and alumni coordinator (got to hug the old
guys at our yearly reunions, lol).

We were small then and everybody
pitched in when we had the draft (more
than 48 hours without sleep), when we
sold bonds and had seat selections for the
new stadium, then mailing out tickets...
there was my boss and I who did this last
enormous chore...for about two weeks we
went home at 3 a.m. then back at 5 a.m.  At
one point Schramm walked by my office on
to hers and I was crying and he asked her
what was wrong with Annie...she replied,
she's probably exhausted.  (The truth was
she was much older and I was determined
that she would not outdo me.)  I wound up
in the tickets office as her assistant as a
result of that!  We worked 7 days a week
from March thru whatever playoff games
we were fortunate to have.

And then there were the super bowls...
what fun!  Except for one in New Orleans...
since we worked from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m.
(then out to dinner and party), I and one
other gal missed King Tut!  Will not let one
of the guys forget this little tidbit, even tho
it wasn't his fault!  Slave drivers they were
to 2 of us!

Really fond memories of our little group!
We played hard and worked even harder!
Do you want to hear the one about when
we were escorted off a plane???  LOL

Yes, Annie, Yes!
