State of the Reunion
BHS Class of '60's 50th      -      June 11-12, 2010
(This is just my memory of our Fabulous Weekend, so please send me additions and
corrections. I'm afraid things may be out of order, and if I missed mentioning
someone that I should have, please let me know at
janbostickstoehr@gmail.com)
For instance, who played golf and when?)

On Friday, June 11, many of us had our first taste of The Reunion at Luigi's, a
restaurant in a strip mall across the street from Belton High School. It was great fun,
and the food was good, too.

On Saturday at noon, Judy and Frank hosted a lovely luncheon for all at their
sumptuous Mediterranean-style villa on a bluff near Stillhouse Hollow Lake. There
was a delicious layout of sandwich-makings, chips, fruit, and many desserts. We sat
around inside and outside on the large patio, getting to know each other again. The
nametags were made by Peggy M.

At 4 p.m., The Reunion began at the Lone Star Banquet Hall at Morgan's Point. The
decorating committee (Marie, Jimmie Nell, Linda DB, Dicksy, and Lou) did
themselves proud, putting up a huge banner welcoming us; posters of groups and
graduates so that EVERYBODY could find themselves celebrated; shiny red
garlands; and clever table centerpieces of six-packs of small Cokes decorated with
red and white carnations, shiny bows, and tiny tigers. Classmates drifted in as the
afternoon wore on, greeted by the Reunion Committee and given photo nametags
featuring their senior pictures created by Jan. We were given a red souvenir
booklet, created by Janean, with classmate names, addresses, and e-mails---data
was furnished by Judy PS---plus several photos. People were invited to see the
slide show created by Jan and set up on her laptop, and to look at the Bio Book and
Book of Class of '60 Website Pages, also by Jan. Peggy, Janean, Dewey, Walt, and
others roamed about with cameras in hand for photos to share with us.

The BHS Tiger Mascot appeared for a while, dressed in her fur coat---even though
the weather was hot as usual in the summer in Texas.

We posed for a Class Photo, then listened to Judy Owens invite us to give money
for a Belton Education and Enrichment Fund scholarship. They are $500 each, and
we hope to raise that amount.

Jan handed out her Titillating Trivia Quiz cards with pictures of the 1985 Reunion
Class Photo and classmate photos surrounding eight descriptions of classmates'
lives since high school. Quizzees were invited to call out the answers, and did so
heartily. (Those described were Lynn, David H, Gladys, Dick, Lou, Buster/Bill, Gale,
and Donnie C.) Names were drawn for the booby prize (a live action figure of Elvis
in his gold lame suit), won by David H., and the first prize, (a book created by Jan
compiled by printing out all the bio pages from the Class of '60 website), won by Joe
Henry. Len and Jan handed out CDs of Fifties music to all classmates.

David B, Class of '60 President, emceed the program. He thanked everyone for
coming and gave credit to all those on the Reunion Committee who worked so hard
to create our wonderful gatherings. Will opened an account for our class to receive
the reservation money and disburse funds to reserve the hall. Janean created and
mailed flyers and direction sheets; made up the red Program Booklet (Judy PS
furnished the data for this); and much more that I don't know about. Jimmie Nell
served as treasurer, decorator, liaison with the hall, and entertainer. Previously
mentioned were the decorators, . Serving as morale support and planning luncheon
partners at various times were Judy ER, Janean, Marie, Gale, Barbara B, Linda D,
Jane, Dicksy, Lou, and Jimmie. David presented certificates of appreciation to Judy
PS for all the years she held our class together, handling the reunions almost
single-handedly (with husband John's help) and to Jan for helping to get out the
word and unite the class for the Fiftieth by publicizing it on the Class of '60 website.
Coach Joe Pirtle told us how wonderful our class is and we just lapped it up!

By that time, we were all half-starved and eagerly went to the buffet table. There we
found delicious barbecued beef and sausage, potato salad, pinto beans, and
cornbread. The gorgeous cake, which sported a photo of the class in graduation
robes, served as dessert.

Then came the highlight of the evening: The shy flower we knew in school as
Jimmie Nell lip-synched Patsy Cline's song, "She's Got You." As she mentioned an
item in the song, such as a picture or class ring, she pulled it from her ample bosom
and flung it carelessly aside. She pulled out a feather boa and strutted around like
Gypsy Rose Lee, singing along. Of course, we all wanted an encore, and Jimmie
gave us one. Next on the agenda was music for dancing, provided by Janean's
Bose equipment. Dewey started off the dancing with Jimmie.
We truly hope that a good time was had by all!

Jan, and others,
I FINALLY got the photos and videos uploaded to my Smugmug website.
The link above should allow you to view (and download) all the photos and
videos on the Gallery titled "BHS Class of '60 2010 reunion". If this does not
work, let me know. I have also uploaded the videos to YouTube, but the
quality is less there. Enjoy and More later from the lower  left coast,
Walt

PS: Gary P. had indicated that anyone who has invested with Gary was to see
me at the reunion for satisfaction. I was approached by some, and I assured
them that I have re-invested said funds in more secure investments,
including California real estate, offshore drilling, cold fusion, chinchilla
ranching, and jojoba bean farms. They seem satisfied.  Hope that helps.
