2008 Brick Campaign
for Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation
In 2008, the Class of '60 gave $1,000 for the
BEEF Alumni and Friends
Brick Walkway!
The Brick Walkway, located at the front of Belton High, was dedicated on Oct. 6, 2007, as a vehicle for honoring
recent graduates, friends, family members, teachers, alumni---you name it, thus raising funds for scholarships and
classroom grants to support BISD students and teachers.
After the unveiling of the Monument to the BHS 1958 State Basketball Champions, Judy
PS,
who attended the event, sent us a photo of the Brick Walkway and a form for
contributing bricks. (If you'd like to contribute to next year's campaign,
here's the form.)

On July 22, 2008, Gary suggested that our goal be to honor each of our 13 deceased
classmates with a brick, and started us off by purchasing bricks for the first two
classmates on our list.
Within 6 days, all 13 were commissioned! Those who
contributed bricks for "Classmates We Miss" (C.W.M.) are now listed on the CWM page,
as well as below. Some contributed more than one.

And we just kept on going!
Jeanne honored her brother-in-law and BHS algebra
teacher,
Dr. Don Anthony; Marie, her mother Prudie Harvey, BHS business teacher;
Walt,
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Haynes, Belton teachers for many years; Dicksy,
her son
Wade, who died in an auto accident; Jan, her parents, M.M. and Dora
Bostick;
Gary, his distant relative, Beuna Pedigo, BHS Valedictorian of 1917;
someone honored
Calvin's son Jim, who also died last year in an auto accident; and
Dick and Nancy dedicated a brick to Jan in appreciation of her work on the website.
Marie and Tom got a brick just for the heck of it!

After the brunch, Joe S. (Class of '58), George, and Will gather around Coach Joe
Pirtle. Whatever they're reading is VERY interesting! Coach Pirtle is the President of
the Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation (BEEF) Board of Directors and Joe S.
is a long-time active member of the Board.
Thanks to Marie for this photo, taken early on in the series, when we hadn't yet burned out our smiles. Left to
right: Jenny, Dicksy, Gale, Jane, Lou, Janean, Marie, Judy PS, Coach Pirtle, David B (Class President), Jimmie Nell,
Jan, George (shown smiling in group photos on next page), Shirlene, Linda M, and Will.
Judy's 2007 Brick That Got Us Started
Our 2008 Bricks
Judy Owens, Foundation Administrator,
has assured us that the misspelled names
(Dalene Binkley, Deanna McPherson, and
Beuna Pedigo) will be corrected. We are
very grateful to Ms. Owens for
coordinating our contributions directly so
that we did not need to collect them
through a class treasurer.
My apologies for missing the bricks for Dicksy's son Wade and Calvin's son, Jim. If
someone will photograph them, I'll add them to this page. I understand that
Jeanne's
brick for her brother-in-law and our algebra teacher,
Dr. Don Anthony, was somehow
overlooked and didn't get made. It shall be done.

A brick has been ordered for
John Eubanks.
